Who We Are

🌱 Rooted in Nature

Native Grounds is a small, regenerative market farm located in Barrow County, Georgia, built with a deep respect for the land and the community it serves. We began this journey to reconnect with the land and to grow food and plants in a way that restores soil health, supports biodiversity, and strengthens local food systems.

We believe sustainable farming should give back to the land as much as it gives to us. Through the use of native plants and eco-friendly, regenerative practices, we support pollinators, improve soil health, and grow fresh, natural food for our local community.

🌿 Our Approach

  • No-Till Soil Management – We avoid disturbing the soil to protect its structure, retain moisture, and nurture beneficial organisms.
  • Hand-Cultivated Beds – Most of our work is done by hand, reducing reliance on heavy machinery and keeping the soil healthy.
  • Native Plant Integration – We grow native plants to support pollinators, increase biodiversity, and restore local ecosystems.
  • Compost & Organic Fertility – We enrich the soil naturally with compost and organic amendments, building long-term fertility.
  • Seasonal Crop Rotation – Rotating crops helps prevent disease, improves soil health, and maximizes nutrient balance.
  • Pollinator & Habitat Support – Flowering plants and cover crops provide habitat for bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects.
  • Sustainable Water Practices – We use water efficiently and prioritize healthy irrigation methods to protect our resources.

🌿 What We Offer

  • Naturally Grown Produce and Herbs – Carefully grown without pesticides or chemicals, our seasonal produce and herbs are as fresh, nutritious, and flavorful as nature intended.
  • Farm-Fresh Free-Range Eggs – Our hens roam freely across pasture and woodland, foraging and pecking naturally. This free-range lifestyle produces eggs that are wholesome, flavorful, and raised with care for both the birds and the environment.
  • Fresh-Cut Flowers – Our fresh-cut flowers are handpicked and arranged into beautiful bouquets and vases, perfect for any occasion.
  • Baked Goods – We bake everything from scratch using wholesome ingredients, bringing you delicious alternatives to ultra-processed baked goods.
  • Farmstand Seedlings – Any surplus seedlings are offered at the farmstand, giving you the chance to grow a little piece of our farm in your own garden.

👩‍🌾 Meet Your Farmers

Hey y’all! We’re Makenzie and Christian—the hands and hearts behind Native Grounds Farm.

Makenzie is a longtime gardener and landscaper turned farmer, and Christian is a certified Arborist serving our local community. We met six years ago, fell in love, and eventually packed everything we owned into a fifth-wheel RV to experience life beyond our hometowns. After two years on the road, we felt the pull to come back home and lay down roots of our own.

In 2024, we purchased our first home and approximately five acres in Barrow County, Georgia. From day one, we began laying the groundwork for a regenerative market farm built with intention, patience, and care. Our dream is to build a lasting legacy from the ground up — one that benefits our family, our neighbors, and the community we call home.

At Native Grounds Farm, we are passionate about growing food sustainably, protecting and increasing biodiversity, and being responsible stewards of the land that we are blessed with. We do things the “old-fashioned way,” limiting the use of heavy machinery and relying instead on our own hands and hard work. Everything we sow, build, cultivate, and harvest is done by us.

We are proudly a no-till farm, committed to working with nature rather than against it, and to nurturing healthy soil for generations to come.
